What's Your Motivation? (April 29, 2007)

I've got to admit, it feels like I'm taking babysteps getting my father (Joseph Borg) to be comfortable having information about himself on the net. He is fully aware of the site, aware of all the great comments on his art work Poker Art , poker prints and otherwise, but I don't forsee him maintaining a blog in the near future. =)

It's official though, Joe Borg is on and live, albeit through me for now. I have grown a far greater respect for those traditional artists that have entered the digital marketing world.

What's Your Motivation? (March 2007)

Just recently I had asked my father to jot something down about how he feels the works for "The Poker Gallery" came about and I thought I'd share it on here...

"Having spent some time in Las Vegas gathering visuals for a project I was involved in, I came across a Texas Hold 'em room. Out of all the various games offered in the casinos, I found Texas Hold 'em fascinating by not only the way the game was played, but also the names that were given to the various hands that were dealt. That was my starting point in creating this Hold 'em series.

In order for me to do this, I had to link the abundant colorful surroundings I was seeing within the environment of hold 'em. Gradually I put together brightly colored pieces with the various hands that would be dealt to a player in the game. As a result, this series reflects the excitement I felt when watching the game.

Keeping the passion of the game in focus, I was able to put together this collection. Some pieces have since been used for promotional material by various casinos and as a result, I have been encouraged to share this collection of art relating to the fascinating game of hold 'em with you."

- Joseph Borg (as relayed by son Eric)
